ABOUT HUDSON FOREST
HISTORY
The property now known as Hudson Forest was once a Boy Scout camp. Mr. E.A. Hudson, the owner of a local furniture store, transferred approximately 50 acres of unimproved land to the area council of the Boy Scouts in May 1915 for the purpose of creating a camp. The camp would become known as Camp Hudson. The property was later sold to developers with the stipulation that it be for residential use only and that the developer(s) demonstrate their concern for the natural beauty of the property. The original developer hired foresters to work with architects with the understanding that. “If a mature tree is in the way of a planned road or house—move the road or house.”
